Jochen Pläcking, born 1945 in Schwelm, began his training in 1965 as an advertising executive in Stuttgart and Hamburg. Having earned his colours working as a creative at Witzgall and at Leonhardt & Kern, he was then appointed Advertising Director and authorised signatory at Fiat followed three years later by the appointment as Vice President of Marketing at Mercedes-Benz.

In both these positions, he was awarded the Art Directors Club (ADC) Client of the Year. He lectured concurrently at the Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU) in Koblenz and in 1999, was appointed Senior Vice President DDB Europe and Chairman and CEO of DDB Germany. In 2005, he founded Kleinundpläcking consulting with Arne Klein, where he joined the advisory board in 2012.

If he’s not casting an approving ’5th eye’ over the consultation work, he can be found reading a good book and maintaining not only our international network but also his olive trees in Liguria.
